How do I care for my Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs?
When first growing your Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs make sure that there is always a little bit of water just underneath the bottom of the Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs. This will enhance the growth of the stem and flowers. TheGiant Amaryllis™ brand bulb is a tropical plant and grows best in warm temperatures. 75º Fahrenheit is the ideal temperature for them. Within 2 - 4 weeks you should start to see growth.
While your Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulb is growing, you can support the stems if they begin to get longer than 15” otherwise the stems may break and ruin your beautiful flower.
Potting your Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs
Step 1.
Choose a container
We recommend a good sized pot for planting your Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs. Keep about 2 inches of room on the sides.
Step 2.
Add soil to container
Fill the container halfway with damp potting mix. Don't pack down the soil as you go. Only filling halfway makes it easier to place the bulb at the right height.
Step 3.
Place the Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs
Nestle the bulb into the center of the container. If you’re planting more than one amaryllis in the same container, place bulbs shoulder to shoulder. The bulbs should feel firm and have plenty of roots at the bases.
Step 4.
Fill in around the bulb
Add more potting mix, but leave the top third of the bulb uncovered. Tamp down the soil around the bulb with your hands to settle the potting mix. Water well, being careful not to wet the exposed top of the bulb. The amaryllis will bloom in 6 to 8 weeks after being moved into a bright room with indirect light. Some can take as long as ten weeks (they are worth the waiting!)

Aftercare
After 3 months of potting your Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs you will likely stop seeing blooms.
This is when you can begin following steps for regrowing your bulbs for the next season.
What should I do after Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulbs are done flowering?
After flowering the Giant Amaryllis™ brand bulb is almost ‘empty’. So to encourage flowering next year it is very important that the bulb builds up new reserves. This resting period allows new flowers to develop from the bulb.
Optimal rest would include (very) good light conditions and preferably a warm climate, averaging 70F to 80F during summer.
Step 1.
After all flowers have faded, clip the wilted flower from the stems 1 to 2 inches above the bulb. Do not remove the foliage.
Step 2.
If the plant is in a small pot, replant the bulb in a large pot, at least twice the diameter of the bulb. Use a good quality drained planters mix or peat moss.
If the bulb is already in a wide pot, replanting is not necessary.
Step 3.
Water regularly, using a basic plant feed every two month at a low rate.
Step 4.
About 6 to 7 months after flowering, move the plant to a cool location of 50F to 60F for a period of 3 months (indoors or outdoors) temperature is by far the most important.
Step 5.
Water very moderately to keep soil slightly moist during two months. Stop watering after these two months. The leaves may remain green, but may also gradually dry off. This is perfectly normal and not a problem.
Step 6.
After 3 months, move the plant back to 70F to 80F, cut off the foliage and dry the top the neck with a tissue to prevent neck-rot.
Do not water again until new leaves and flower stems appear.
Step 7.
After 8 to 10 weeks the Amaryllis may flower again.
Repeat these steps after every flower cycle.
